Lawn Care
Wakefield Lawn Care
As a homeowner you want a lush green lawn that stays that way all season long. An added bonus is that a healthy lawn exudes curb appeal making your property the envy of the neighborhood. And that will increase the value of your property while giving you a gorgeous backdrop for cookouts, parties, and family gatherings. That’s what makes your investment of time and money worthwhile.
Regular Mowing & Maintenance
Bill Veno and his team will take care of the hard part with a regular schedule of mowing and maintenance. Using professional grade equipment we make sure to cut at the optimum height for lawn health. And we always keep our blades sharp which enhances the appearance of your lawn. Your grass will be cleaner cut which allows it to recover faster as well.
Deep roots are the key to a healthy, happy lawn. Proper blade height provides just the right amount of grass surface for the sun to work it’s magic. Maintenance, mowing, and sunshine are essential but they’re only 50% of the solution. Mother Nature will help with the other 50% but she’ll need some help from you in the form of water.
Deep watering encourages deeper roots in lawns. Here in New England you need about 1 1/2 inches of water per week. If your soil is sandy and drains well you may need to water more often but less total water is needed to get to the desired 4″ depth. Conversely clay soils may require more water but less often.
Watering Tips
- Early morning is best
- Depending on rainfall, water deeply every 2-3 days
- Wet soil to a depth of 3-4 inches
You can check the depth of your watering by pushing a trowel or screwdriver into the soil. If the soil is wet the tool should move easily. Dry soil should cause resistance.
If you have irrigation it’s a good idea to make sure each area is receiving ample water. Place shallow pans or tuna cans in various spots to collect water. If a zone isn’t getting it’s share of water you should make adjustments on your timer.
